Immigration officials are trying to figure out whether a baby girl born aboard a plane just before it landed in Chicago is a U.S. or Mexican citizen.

O'Hare International airport officials say a 42-year-old woman gave birth to the 7-pound, eight-ounce girl late Wednesday night. The woman, a Mexican citizen who was on her way to Milwaukee to visit relatives, was on a Mexicana Airlines flight from Guadalajara when she went into labor.  An Obstetrician traveling on the plane helped with the birth about an hour before the planed touched down.

A child born in airspace over U.S. territory is eligible for citizenship so officials are trying figure out exactly where the baby girl was born.
