On our eighty first program David J. Hart and Andrea Olivos-Kah discuss the updates on the availability of H-1B Visas for foreign nationals who are subject to the Master’s or Advanced Degree Cap as well as the most recent Senate discussions on comprehensive immigration reform. The good news about the H-1B Master’s cap is that it is still open but with probably less than 3,000 visas available for those individuals who hold a U.S. Master’s degree or other advanced U.S. degree. The good news about the Senate’s negotiations is that we now know a Senate proposal may be released as early as next week with a possible vote in May. Since we already know the House of Representatives is aiming for a vote on its version of comprehensive immigration reform in July, we are now even more hopeful that Congress may reach a negotiated compromise on the issue before the August recess.
