Written by Andrea Olivos-Kah
Friday, 02 March 2007
On our seventy fourth program, David J. Hart and Andrea Olivos-Kah discuss the testimony of U.S. Department of Homeland Security (“DHS”) Secretary Michael Chertoff and U.S. Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez at the Senate Judiciary Committee’s first hearing on Comprehensive Immigration Reform (“CIR”) on February 28, 2007. This marks the first official meeting dedicated to the subject of CIR since the 110th Congress convened. This also marks the first of many hearings that will hopefully produce comprehensive, bipartisan immigration reform bills to be introduced sometime this March. David J. Hart and Andrea Olivos-Kah discuss Mr. Chertoff’s and Mr. Gutierrez’s recommendations for a CIR framework.
