As authorities cleared wreckage from a highway crash outside Florence, AZ that left nine people dead Thursday, federal officials already were beginning the process of finding out who was responsible for cramming the vehicle with 19 people believed to be illegal immigrants. By late afternoon, ICE agents had identified a suspect, the person believed to be the drimver of the SUV and were interviewing survivors to get more information. The driver, as well as others, could face serious charges if agents are able to prove the single-vehicle crash stemmed from human smuggling. The vehicle bore Sonoran license plates, but authorities do not know where it entered the country or when. The SUV was going through Pinal County on Arizona 79, a popular corridor for smugglers, around 7:45 a.m. when it left the narrow road and flew over a wash before rolling. The vehicle was going at least 85 mph, said Lt. Mike Corbin, a state Department of Public Saftey spokesman, according to the Arizona Republic. By the time DPS officers responded, 9 people were dead and 10 wee seriously injured. All 19 were adults.
