On our ninety second program, David J. Hart and Andrea Olivos-Kah discuss the prohibitive costs of U.S.passports for many of those citizens who would apply for Medicare and Medicaid benefits, delays in processing of passport applications, and the burden now placed on states by this federal regulation. The regulations were published on July 2 in the Federal Register and already there are reports of over 1,000 U.S.citizens residents of West Virginia who have been denied benefits and/or renewal of benefits due to their failure to present U.S. passports or other documents to evidence US citizenship.
